Great Wall & Markets

So last night i had to wash my clothes in the sink... and hang dry them. I hated it. Can u send me a washer and dryer?! Im wearing a wet tanktop under my shirt and its annoying. The washer here is 90rmb which is like $12-13 our money. Which is expensive! But everything eles here is cheap. I bought two kiwi, two plums, grapes, and two banannas all for $19rmb which is almost $3 us dollars. Today is Summer Palace and markets and some other stuff! Yesturday was the great wall!!! It was very hard, sooo steep. I was sweating everywhere. But im glad i pushed myself to hike halfway of the part we went to. It was 3 1/2 miles!! one side up hill, the other down hill. When i got to the top my legs were so sore and shaky it was scary going down. I thought my legs would give in and i would roll down the great wall.

Today was crazy market day!! I got some things that i love! The people here are phyco when they try to get u to buy there things. I was pulled into almost every store, they just grabbed me by my wrist and won't let go. It was actually scary for a lot of us. One woman got sooo mad at my friend she said she would kill her for lowering the price! I asked a lady (do shoaw shen...idk how to spell it but thats how u say it) It means "how much?" she wanted 900rmb for a D&G p coat. I got her to lower it a little but when i said "100?" she took the coat and said "are you crazy or stupid?" haha i just walked away. But it was fun and we are getting more tomorrow. So far i got 2 magnets, a 3-d great wall pic for grandpa, a navy blue winter sweater from Abercrombie and fitch, a shirt that says " I <3 beijing more than ever" (in chinese) lol and some awesome shoes that have croc bottoms. very comfy. We also went to the forbidden city this morning, but it was very foggy so pics were bad. But it was a cool thing. My feet and legs are sooo sore from always walking i need to rest for a week! I will so loose weight while i'm here. Which is good because they don't make shorts big enough for my stupid butt. :( and all i have are my cheer shorts, cuz at home thats all that fits me to. Stupid!  We have loong days, we always leave by 7am and get home around 6pm. Tomorrow is summer palace and more markets and the silk factory. My straighter doesn't work here because the volts are diff, even with a converter. So i need one of those now :(
I'm starting to pick up more and more chinese. When i go to the stores and speak a little they go all crazy chinese talk on me and i have to say "uh, whats that in english?" and they laugh and say "i thought u knew chinese!? you are very good!" then i tell them it was just a trick and i'm learning it. They love it. So crazy how diff things are here. Babies either don't wear pants or they are crotch less pants! they can't afford diapers here. So if ur holding ur kid and he pees you just hold him out and he pees or poohs on the street! Its way gross! And heaven forbid they clean it up...lol. Crazy people.

Thats it for now. :)

Hong Kong Summary

I have spent a great 3 days in Hong Kong, traveling, trying new foods, shopping, and learning about the culture. Here is what i have done: Victoria Peak to overlook all of hong kong, hong kong temple and mission house, markets, cable car ride to big buddha, rode the metro all over, and i met some amazing people. Today me and a friend went to the temple, markets, and one heck of an amazing Korean restaurant. My new favorite food is believe it or not, Ox Tongue!! Soooo good, it's the new steak. I also am a fan of lamb, squid tube, cow stomach, and dragon fruit. Hope to find these at home. :)
Things i have learned so far:
-Chinese people are very nice and willing to lend a helping hand...to other chinese people.
-It is custom that girls and boys hold hands/link arms with there best friends (i was thinking this place was full of lesbians)
-Chinese people are always in a rush, and they have no problem shoving you out of their way.
-Women walk around with umbrellas to hide from the sun. The whiter you are the prettier you are. Tan people are lower class because it means they work outside or are farmers.
-Women typically wear some form of a high heal everywhere. They want to appear taller.
-Because there a few religions here there really is no modesty. short dresses, skirts, shorts are seen on all ages. Esp with how hot it is here. O and boys wear capris....cacka-yeetchi
-B.O. is not an issue when all of Honk Kong reaks of rotten Tofu. Like our cheese, the smellier it is the better. O good...
-If you have any form of cold or cough you must wear a mask at all times.
-Death is the number one fear in China.
-Public restrooms have the toilet paper outside the stalls. So grab what you need first or figure things out the hard way (like i did).
-Kids start kindergarten at age 2 1/2 so they graduate high school by age 16.

Buddha

Last night we rode Cable Cars for a 30min ride over the mountains to get to the one and only Big Buddha. It was breath taking and my pictures don't do it any justice. The monks are really nice and LOVE taking pics with everyone. We meditated on the top of the mountain and it was surprisingly very peaceful. A great experience!

Victoria Peak

Last night we took a Trolly up to Victoria Peak and we got to over look all of Hong Kong. It was amazing!! The weather is very very humid, hot, and overcast. These other pics are from the airport to my hostel.

Hong Kong

Finally, after a 2 hour flight from san fran to L.A., meeting the famous William Hung, Flying 13 hours to South Korea, now i am in Hong Kong. We just got to our Hostel and there are 6 girls in my room, all bunk beds, and very small. We ate at Pasta and Oysters, two bowls of noodles with veggies and bacon was $10 american dollars. Which is $70 in Hong Kong dollars. Now on our way to a ferry ride to watch a world wide famous lazer light show.

Packing

It's almost time to pack up and move away! I have so many cute outfits picked out and ready to be worn. I'm still in desperate need of a good eye brow wax and a spray tan...My lesson plans are being typed, ten down four to go. I'm getting so anxious just wasting away time seeing all my friends and family. I'm having a "see ya later" party this Saturday. No need for goodbyes, because i'll be back. Until then follow my blog, email, or write me!!
Things to do: move out of jamies, finish typing lessons, buy batteries, get rid of massive eyebrows, spray tan, "see ya later" party, pack, fly out of SFO. Super excited :)
